Homelessness Locally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The housing crisis in the UK is reaching worrisome levels, with a\u00a0recent\u00a0statement from the UK homelessness charity Shelter\u00a0stating\u00a0that\u00a0over\u00a0382,000 people in England\u00a0alone\u00a0were homeless in\u00a0December 2025.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">That figure, a snapshot of\u00a0Christmas 2025, included\u00a0175,025 children without a home.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This\u00a0represented\u00a0an 8% increase on the year prior, with an estimated increase of 28,602 people,\u00a0demonstrating\u00a0that\u00a01 in every 153 people experiencing homelessness.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 aria-level=\"2\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">A\u00a0Background to UK Homelessness\u00a0<\/span><span 2025\u00a0found that homelessness in the UK is costing taxpayers, with spending on temporary accommodation reaching almost \u00a32.8 billion in 2025\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0almost 5 times higher than in 2010.\u00a0The report looked at how various structural,\u00a0individual,\u00a0and interpersonal factors can contribute to homelessness or\u00a0increase\u00a0the\u00a0risk.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Poverty, a\u00a0primary\u00a0driver of\u00a0homelessness,\u00a0is a prime example of how personal and structural factors can
